When in Haerbin, it usually makes sense to stay in the Daoli District, this is where all the heritage buildings and frankly, this is probaby the only interesting place in the entire city. My hostel was located in a great place which is in the middle of all the heritage buildings in the Daoli District. This makes it an excellent base to explore the nearby area. The large meal I just had a the MA Family Restaurant only gave me more reason to start exploring.
The restaurant was actually at Da An Street, which leads directly to the famous pedestrian street of Haerbin which is Zhongyang Street, literally “Central Street”. With that kind of name you would certainly expect that the there will be a lot of interesting places here. Da An Street is already showing lots of promise since it also has some of the heritage buildings here. I can’t tell if they are reconstructions but they sure look convincing. What is interesting is that these buildings are still in use either as residences or offices. If I lived in Haerbin, I would love to stay here.
