The Alleys of Hongcun 宏村 Ancient Village

As expected, the bus bringing us to the Hongcun 宏村 Ancient Village was dominated by local tourists. However, we weren’t the only foreigners in the bus, as there was a Malaysian grannie seated next to us. Hongcun will be our first stop then they will bring us to Xidi for lunch and exploration. Practically the entire trip to the village was full of non-stop talking. Surprisingly, it was not done by the local tourists, but by the tour group leader. She doesn’t speak much English so she didn’t both and just asked me to translate anything important to my companion.

Hungry?

Hungry?

She didn’t really say anything significant either but rather more on rules on how to behave on her guided tour. Most important to her was punctuality since it is not expected that everyone will be going together, meeting up at the designated time it extremely important, and she emphasized that they will leave late people behind. Whatever, it wasn’t as if we can’t get back on our own. Hongcun was the further of the two villages and it took use around two hours to get to it. Entrance fee has been paid for, all we need to do is show up.
