The Confucius Forest as its name implies is a huge place with surely more than just a few places of interest. However, the place is far bigger than I have time for, so it was time to head back now that I have been to the most important part of the forest. Lest anyone forget, the Confucius Forest is also a cemetery, a family cemetery and the largest in the world. A few thousands are buried here in the woods. However, it may be a little difficult to see this since the tombs are just basically mounds.
The mounds have mostly grown grass so it was not that apparent. It reminded me of a small version of the Chocolate Hills found in Bohol in the Philippines. Most of the tombs didn’t seem to be marked as only the more important people have markings. In fact, even the most important one didn’t seem to be that fancy either. The Kong family tree is probably one of the most comprehensive in the world as it spans all way to the time of Confucius himself. Some of Confucius’ descendants can be found in Taiwan.
