When I think of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, I would think that he is the greatest composer the world has ever seen. He generally is considered to be that but I really never knew about his life. I was here at the birth place of the famed composer in the city of Salzburg where he spent a lot of his life in. His birthplace is preserved as a museum and part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Considering the stature of Mozart, he lived in what I would consider humble surroundings. I know that the building is all fixed up for visitors but back then, it probably wasn’t as nice. There was still no electricity at the time and I thought it was hard to imagine how life was in a semi-modern setting. It still surprised me to know that Mozart lived during the time of the Holy Roman Empire, which probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to me since he was known to emperors.
His birthplace in Salzburg shows how he lived back then. Unfortunately, not everything was preserved. I would have wanted to see his bedroom, or study but for the most part the museum has exhibits of artifacts which are related to Mozart such as the instruments he used. He was proficient in the violin and the keyboard. The closest thing related to his ordinary life was a recreation of the kitchen used by the family at the time. Most of the other rooms were just filled with exhibits of one thing or another.
