At this point in my visit of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, I was ready wind down my visit. I believe I have seen the most important parts of the fortress and I also know that the place is about to close for the day as well. I was following a path around the walls of the fortress and it eventually led me up and out of the castle. It wasn’t the exit, but rather a lookout point from one of the highest points of the fortress. By this time, the weather wasn’t very good and it was even windy up the fortress. It was winter when I visited, needless to say, it was very cold up there.
From the top of the fortress, you are essentially what is the highest point in the city of Salzburg. But this time in the day, the sun had already gone down and it was already dark. It should be a great time to take photos of the city lights. When I arrived there, there was staff who was telling visitors that the place is already closed, so I knew I had to hurry. It wasn’t like I would like to linger there since it was bitterly cold. It would have been great to take photos of the city, unfortunately, there are spotlights below which aim lights at the fortress. This made for very difficult photo taking. So if you think that the city lights photos look odder than normal, you know that I have been avoiding the spotlights.
