It seems that I found myself inside yet another European Palace. I know I have seen quite a few of them and I know that while they are certainly beautiful, some of them tend to be over the top. I think the best example of this is the Palace of Versailles in France where each and every room of the palace is amazing. After a few minutes of seeing these things, I found that I would lose interest very quickly. I think it is just too much of a good thing and wasn’t that interested in it anymore. When I entered the Salzburg Residenz which is the archbishop’s palace, I was worried that it might turn out to be something like that.
For starters, this is an archbishop’s palace not and emperor’s palace so maybe it won’t be as fancy as the ones I have seen elsewhere. True enough, as I entered the great hall in the Salzburg Residenz, I can see that the designs aren’t over the top, at least not yet. There a it a lot of light and even the walls are painted in white which makes interiors a little brighter. I thought that the white walls and the painted ceiling made for a great combination, it is almost having a nice floor to contrast against the white walls. Going around the Salzburg Residenz is very straightforward. There are signs all over the place to show visitors where they should go. There are also audio guides available for visitors who wanted to learn more about the place.
