Bird at the Dolmabahce Palace In Istanbul
By the time I got to the National Painting Museum at the Dolmabahce Palace, it was already late afternoon. Technically, it was almost evening but it was summer and there was still a lot of light outside. This made it nice to walk around the palace ground. However, this also means that the palace museum is starting to close and visitors were already being urged to head to the exits. While I was thrilled to see the palace, I wasn’t too pleased to not have been able to take photos inside the main palace hall.
Sea Bird at the Dolmabahce Palace
Visitors, of course, can take photos outside the palace but I couldn’t have been interested in that. The Dolmabahce Palace was in a great location along one of the most important waterways in the country – the Bosphorus. It is no surprise that Sultan Abdulmecid I decided to build the new palace here. It would actually be a nice walk. There is a fence along the shore but I am not sure if this is something new to protect visitors from falling into the water. There are gates every now and then which allow access to the water but that too is closed to the public. I decided to just do a little bird watching since there are several birds just hanging out here. For the most part they would be hanging out on the side facing the water, out of reach of humans. Some are a little more daring. but they seemed to be used to the presence of humans which made them easier to photograph./
