I didn’t really do much that afternoon. I spent much of the morning walking along Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul but I head back to the hotel shortly after lunch. It was probably the heat that made me go back but I actually have another reason. I will be going on a long trip that evening and I wanted to prepare for that. I got my stuff ready and head to the bus terminal. The bus terminal is huge but very convenient. There are buses here which will bring you to all sorts of places in Türkiye. Since Istanbul is also somewhat near the border, there are also trips which will bring you outside the country.
My bus departs early evening so I thought that I should have dinner before we leave. There are several cafeterias here at the bus terminal so food isn’t a problem, that is if you like Turkish food. As you might expect, is it mostly locals who use the bus terminal so there won’t be a market for foreign food. I didn’t mind that since I find Turkish food quite tasty. I ended up at one of the cafeterias which have outside seating. I got myself a plate of kofte which is basically meatballs. They were okay and nothing really special but at least I had something which is not kebab. I also had some Turkish tea to wash it all down. It is funny that people would still drink hot tea here despite the heat. I think because the drink is hot that it makes you sweat and thereby making you cooler, if that makes sense.
