When I was doing research on the Algarve region of Portugal, one of the places which popped up is Ponta da Piedade in Lagos. Although I have been to the northern part of the country, I have never been to the southern part, which apparently is extremely popular to tourists. In this trip, I wasn’t going out and looking for historical sites but I was on school holiday and I was just going with friends to have some company for a change. It was certainly very enjoy having friends along but I knew that I had to make a lot concessions because there were so many of us and there were kids too. I didn’t really insist on much but only one thing – that we go to Lagos.
The idea was to bring everyone to see Ponta da Piedade which arguably is the most beautiful seascape in Portugal. Because of various reasons, I ended up going by myself. No, we didn’t fight amongst ourselves. Anyway, I ended up going by myself and I thought that it was a pity that everyone else didn’t get to go. It was a brilliant day and I had a couple of hours to go around Ponta da Piedade. I would think that the seascape is looks even better in person. The scenery is reminiscent of parts of Australia. I haven’t been there but I have seen photos of the place. The yellow cliffs really bring a lot of character and liveliness to the scenery.
