Walking Across Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam was a great accomplishment when it was built in the 1930s during the Great Depression. A decision was made to dam the waters of the Colorado River to help generate electricity as well as provide water for irrigation. It is a challenge to build something like that now but it is even more so back then. I know that the weather isn’t this extreme all year round but it can still be extremely difficult to work in this area. Lake Mead and Colorado river sources it waters from snow melt of the mountains even beyond this area. multiple rivers end up feeding the Colorado river and formed what seems to be an impossibility, a lake in the middle of the desert.

These days, millions of people directly or indirectly depend on the Hoover Dam, whether it is for electricity or for vital water. Although, it is a functioning dam, it is possible to visit it as a tourist attraction. One can drive or walk across the dam itself. Much as I would like to walk across the dam, it was very hot. I got out of the car and I started walking. I was thinking to myself that I should get this over with as soon as possible because of the heat. Most people would be walking across the dam. There is a small museum and shop if you want. The also set up some cooling stations at one end to help cool people down. While very much welcome, I always thought that it is a huge waste of precious water to use on something like that.
