Large Hall at the Chateau de Fontainebleau

Although this is the first time that I have visited the Chateau de Fontainebleau, I have a fairly good idea of what to expect. If the Palace of Versailles is anything to go by, I believe that this palace would be very similar to it since it has been used by kings and emperors of France. The Chateau de Fontainebleau started its existence as a medieval castle, but things started going during the reign of Francis I who took the existing castle and ordered another one built. The old castle was incorporated into the new structure. You can’t really tell when you are walking inside how this all changed over the years.

The original structure is actually at the back of the big square you see coming in. So, there is still a lot of go through before you get there. The first building you explore would undoubtedly be the longest one. All visitors to the chateau would go through here. They probably already organized the tour so that visitors would be able to see all of the important places. I didn’t get an audio guide, hoping that there would be English translations. There are but they weren’t plentiful. However, the designs of the halls and rooms would more than make up for it.
