I feel that Reims is quite a special city because it has two very large churches not too far from each other. Arguably, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims is much prettier and more well known compared to the basilica but the churches are both special in their own unique way. One thing in common that I have noticed is their use of stained glass windows here. Gothic church tend to use this a lot since it help to brighten up the normally dark interiors. The Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims appears to be brighter than I expected, this is because of the row of large stained glass windows that are found near the roof of cathedral.
The layout of the cathedral appears to be the traditional cruciform layout used in a lot of cathedrals. Notre Dame de Reims also has chapels that surround the ambulatory of the cathedral. This is also typical of very large churches. These chapels would usually be dedicated to a particular saint. And because this is the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims, there are stained glass windows behind each of these chapels. It is really a spectacle to see especially when there is a lot of light outside.
