As I was going around the town of Kinsale, I noticed that the houses here seem to be freshly painted. Not only that, but each of the houses here would have different bright colors on their walls. This wasn’t the first time I have seen brightly colored houses but I think this is the first time I seen it in Ireland. I remember seeing this kind of thing in Venice where the colors of the houses would be carefully planned specifically for tourism. No doubt, the locals are encouraged to keep their houses in tip top shape to make sure the tourist dollars keeps coming in. I wasn’t sure if this is the case here but it really has a nice effect.
The colorful houses here give an air of charm not seen in other towns. I know that Kinsale can be a little touristy but I think it is still a good idea to keep your town looking good. I think it tries to evoke a small Irish village type of feeling but the presence of vehicles kind of ruins the feeling. I think it would be nice if they have a no vehicle zone of the town center then it would be a very pleasant place to walk around in. It is a pity that the shops here are not open because of the pandemic, I think it would help improve the atmosphere if they are.
