Looking Out to Sea from Killeen’s of Aranmore
I was surprised to hear someone calling me when I was taking photos from a viewing deck when I was exploring Aranmore Island. The deck is owned by Killeen’s of Aranmore which is a large guesthouse or hotel on a elevated area in Aranmore. The person calling me invited me in the guesthouse and I agreed. This made me a little nervous since who would be inviting a random tourist into their guest house to take photos. I was expecting that I would be stabbed here and thrown to the sea by some deranged hotel owner. The lady who invited me in owns the hotel and she was far from the deranged hotel owner/stabber that I feared her to be.
Dining Area at Killeen’s of Aranmore
I was brought around the guest house. Apparently, most of their family lives near the Dublin area and seldom need to come here. Then she told me that the place was actually up for sale. Apparently, there is a businessman on their way to the hotel and her husband has gone and fetched the person from the port. I wasn’t sure why she thought that I would want to go in and have a look at the hotel. I suspect that I was there to provide some competition to the businessman in the hopes that the person would be persuaded to buy the property before someone else does. I was glad that I got to see the insides of the hotel. The hotel was huge. There are numerous rooms and although the place looks old, it is actually very well kept. The view from the dining area is incredible. I would love to spend a night here just to have breakfast here with the view outside the window. Alas, I don’t know if the place has changed owners since I went there.
