It was another nice summer’s day, the forecast was for a lot of sun but it wasn’t starting out that way. It was somewhat overcast but not threatening to rain. It was supposed to be sunnier in the latter part of the day, so I thought that it was as good a time to go for another adventure in county Donegal. I was looking at the map and I thought that I have never visited Aranmore Island just off the coast of county Donegal. I still needed to drive all the way to the village of Burtonport which is almost an hour away.
I knew that I would be taking a ferry to the island so I prebooked a slot for a fixed time. I was just hoping that I would get there on time. This is not my first time in Burtonport, I was actually here for food some time back. Being a port, I imagined that fresh seafood would be the order of that day. I would probably consider that before I leave Burtonport at the end of the day. In the meantime, I would be exploring the port while waiting for permission to board the ferry. The port isn’t that large but there are enough ships here to tell you that it can get quite busy here. There are a number of vehicles waiting here as well, no doubt waiting for their chance to go to the island.
