I was relieved to have found the train platform to get to the city center. That part of the airport wasn’t very well sign posted and I had to walk back and forth to find the place. The train was quite convenient since one would not need a taxi to get to town. It was actually difficult to move about since it was cold and I had winter clothes on. I was glad that the train to the city center wasn’t crowded, I would imagine it would be worse when I get to the city. The airport train brings visitors to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie station, which is part of the metro network of Lyon.
It was obviously busier here but one thing I noticed here in Lyon so far, was that it was not that gritty compared to Paris. Sure there are good parts in Paris but I didn’t like the city that much. My introduction to Lyon was very good so far. Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie station is actually part of Line A and it terminates at Perrache station, which is conveniently where my hotel is. It helps to stay near the railway station that way I won’t have to worry about getting to the train station early in the morning.
