Walls of the Bonamargy Friary
It was getting late in the afternoon and we still weren’t even halfway our itinerary. We decided that we have to cut the trip short since we underestimated the time to explore certain places. We just finished exploring Ballintoy Harbour. This is not the first time I have been to Ballintory. There are more famous landmarks here probably the most famous one here is the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge which included not just a rope bridge but also amazing cliff side scenery which seems to be common here. We decided to make our way to Belfast to have dinner. It would still be a long way off, fortunately, I wasn’t driving. Along the road to Belfast, saw a sign about a friary. I remember there was a mention of a friary in the vicinity.

There friary was actually along the main road and it was not difficult to miss. Parking may be a bit of an issue since there was only parking for probably two vehicles. This is not really a very busy place so parking was very easy for us. There is a path to walk towards the friary itself where you would run into a gate. Curiously enough, the gate was not open. And neither could we open it. The gate was actually quite low so we just climbed over the walls enclosing the friary. There doesn’t seem to an entrance fee here and neither was there any one keeping an eye one it. So this is how it feels to trespass. It feels almost fun like we were sneaking in.
