It took a bit of figuring out how to get to downtown Paris from the airport. We managed to purchase commuter tickest to downtown Paris, now it was just a matter of picking the correct train. There is a large train station at Charles de Gaulle Airport, include a few platforms for their high speed trains. I was hoping that we would be taking the high speed trains to the city but it doesn’t seem like it. The ticket we purchased will go through a lot of stops along the way and it seems that this is the one used by commuters. This makes the ticket cheaper. We asked one of the staff at the platform which one to take and he pointed to the correct train.
We got seats in the train and I immediately noticed how different this train is from the “normal” airport trains which I have taken in Asia. This train seems to be quite old. It is still well maintained but it is obviously old. I noticed that a lot of the passengers here were minority groups, probably because of the price of train tickets. This wasn’t how I imagined Parisians to be. It is an eye opener though to see how diverse the population of the city is. Seems a lot of the people on the train knew each other and were very friendly with each other. We were just on the lookout for our stop. French isn’t exactly a very easy language for me to listen to, so this time I need to pay extra attention.
