Berlayer Creek
The following day was the last day of my visit to Singapore. My flight won’t be until late night so I have a lot of time to spare. I managed to wrangle a minor extension to my hotel stay since their lift wasn’t working for most of my stay. Since I have the time, I thought that I should go back to Berlayer Creek. Readers of this blog would know that I visited it several posts ago, or rather, I attempted to visit it. That was until a severe tropical storm changed my mind. Today, the weather seems to be much better, though knowing Singapore, storms can suddenly appear out of nowhere and they will be intense.
Plant Life at Berlayer Creek
I made my way back to Berlayer Creek, determined to see what they were keeping away from me. The weather was holding up and I had no reason to fear a sudden downpour. In fact, I might actually get nice shots this visit. The creek is one of only a few mangrove swamps in Singapore. As you know, mangroves are essential to keep the stability of the shore and they also serve as breeding grounds for fish. When visiting the creek, visitors would be walking above the swampland via elevated walkway to keep visitors from disturbing the site. I think it is a great idea as it still allows people to see this ecosystem in action.
