I had a great time catching up with my old friends in Singapore. We had a great dinner at the Jumbo Seafood Restaurant which happens to be an old favorite of ours. I think one would struggle to not find anything you would want to eat there. The restaurant is also near the entertainment hub that is Clarke Quay. I am no stranger to Clarke Quay. In fact, I have witnessed its transformation from sleepy market to a vibrant entertainment center. So dramatic was the change that you would struggle to recognize it. These days Clarke Quay is one of the places to go to for a night out.

All of these places are outdoor so it was a great idea to build something to keep the elements out. Short of enclosing the entire complex in a dome, they built what are essentially multiple umbrellas to keep out the rain. There are also fans to keep visitors cool in the tropical heat. The giant canopies are one of the signature looks of the modern Clarke Quay and it gives it the futuristic look it has now. I think it goes well with the modern and trendy place it has become now. No, my friends and I didn’t go clubbing instead we hung outside one of the bars and had drinks while continuing to catch up. I know some of them live quite far and it was great that they came all the way here to meet up with me.
