If you notice that this series of posts about Singapore doesn’t have much in the way of sights. If you really want those, you can check my older posts. However, my visit isn’t much about sightseeing but more about relaxing, meeting friends and eating. Singapore has a very exciting food culture and good food is relatively easy to find. If I wanted nice Hainanese Chicken Rice, I can always go to one of the more well known places and order a plate there. However, there are places which I can’t just go and order five dishes just to taste them. For those I would need friends. This time, I would have enough friends to do just that.
It seems that I was the only one not working that day and a few of my friends would be coming from far away but I’m glad that they still agreed to come meet up downtown even if it was not very convenient for them. Eating is always a great reason to meet up with friends. Jumbo Seafood Restaurant is one of those places which we would frequent, especially if there are visitors from elsewhere. This time, I am the visitor but at least I know where to go.
Looking at the menu, I don’t think much has changed but it is this very reason that I would eat here every now and then. We ordered the classics taking into mind the food restrictions we have. Yes, we hung out long enough to know what people don’t like. Fortunately, I already had chili crab this visit (though it wasn’t a very good one), at least I won’t need to order it since I know some in the group can’t take spicy food. We had a great time catching up and it felt like nothing has changed. It is also great that that food hasn’t changed either.
