I manage to do one of my old walks here at the Marina Bay area. I started from the Gardens by the Bay and made my way to the Marina Bay Sands and then to the Esplanade Theater and finally ended at the Merlion Park. It isn’t that far but it isn’t that short either. I was stopping a lot of times but I still felt the exhaustion from all that walking. I blame the heat and the humidity. By the time I finished, it was already past nine in the evening and I haven’t had dinner yet! I didn’t get anything at the Marina Bay Sands since I know it would be expensive. I was hoping something a little more affordable.
I actually don’t mind eating at a hawker center if I could find one here but this is Marina Bay and you would not be able to find one here. However, the closest thing to a hawker center would be the Makansutra Gluttons Bay. It is basically an open air food court not unlike a hawker center. However, the prices here would be higher than you average hawker center. At this point, I didn’t care anymore since I was starving. Against my better judgement, I got chili crab, one of the signature dishes of Singapore. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very good. I know I always have chili crab at the fancier restaurants, so maybe it might be little unfair to compare the two but it was night and day. The chili crab sauce wasn’t that tasty, the crab itself wasn’t as satisfying to eat, even the fried buns which you dip into the chili crab sauce weren’t that good either. While I was eating, I was thinking to myself how I could probably make a better chili crab than what they have here. I probably should have just gotten something else here considering how much I paid for it.
