Merlion Park at Night

Even though I was jetlagged, I should still be wide awake at this time of the evening, but for some reason, I was able to adjust quickly to the time zone and I was already tired from a whole day of activity. It was just a lot of walking around one of the most scenic parts of the city. The Marina Bay area is one of my favorite places in Singapore, it is not cheap here but you don’t have to spend much to relax and enjoy the scenery. I was just trying to complete my normal route when I visited this area. The route is rather long, which takes me from the Marina Bay Sands all the way to the Merlion Park.

The Merlion is the symbol of Singapore. This one at Merlion Park sits on a prominent position in front of the central business district. There is also new Jubilee Bridge which runs right beside the Esplanade Drive. It used to be that visitors would need to walk on the Esplanade Drive to cross the river. It is safe but visitors are still are walking alongside traffic. The Jubilee Bridge allows visitors to walk across the river without any traffic. I think this is all unnecessary since there is already an existing bridge but I think the change is still welcome. The bridge built in commemoration of Singapore 50th year of founding. You can see that people make use of the bridge a lot since you are closer to the water and you don’t need to walk as far.
