Film Location of the Do Re Mi Song from the Sound of Music Film
I spent much of the morning trying to make my way to the Sound of Music film location in the town of Werfen in Austria. Despite heavy snow in the area, I still managed to make my way there on foot. By this point in my walk, I wasn’t really expecting to see much in the area. The clouds were heavy with ice, that it feels like it will snow anytime soon. Needless to say, there wasn’t much scenery to see here apart from the immediate area. From photos, I can see that there are some impressive mountains in the area, unfortunately because of the weather, you can’t see any of that.
Finally Made it to the Sound of Music Trail in Werfen
I entered the actual film location where there was a sign describing the location. This is where the Do Re Mi song from the movie was filmed. I would like to think that that song is the more well known of all the songs in the film. Honestly, it was hard to appreciate all this when I was out here in the freezing weather. There are also signs which point to several interesting locations in the town. Apparently, there is a large castle here which made a great background of the film, however, it was very difficult to see the castle from here. It turned out that it wasn’t open either. The castle is said to the be second large castler in the Salzburg area. Looking around the immediate area of the film location, I can see that there are fresh footprints, no doubt made by the tourists which I met on the way up. It looks like they didn’t stay too long since there isn’t much to see here.
