Traditional Architecture at Werfen

The small town of Werfen isn’t turned out to be the lively, musical and touristy place that I expected it to be. In a way, I was glad since it means this place won’t be packed with people. One of the things which Werfen is known for it that it was used as a film set for the classic film the Sound of Music. If it was good enough to be a film location then it has got to be pretty enough to be shown on film. This was before the time of computer generated imagery and everything was all real. Needless to say, I thought that it would be nice to see the scenery if I can.

What greeted me here was a cold, miserable and dreary town. It wasn’t ghetto or anything like that. The winter weather was making everything so gloomy that I didn’t really feel like going around anymore. I only have a single destination here in mind so I thought that I should just make a run for it and head back. The main street while generally clear of ice was very quiet for a main street. Of course, it was cold and snowy, who would want to go out. The way to the film location goes along that main street and I was just following it to see what I can find. I noticed that some of the houses here have rather charming architecture. They are not old houses but more modern structures but still having architectural characteristics that one might associate with a German village. I thought it was very pretty to have a nice house like that. There are other houses like the in town and I think I would get a better view soon.
