I spent much of the day just wandering around the historic center of the city of Salzburg. This is pretty much got the city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. I always appreciate these kinds of places even though I may not fully understand what is all about especially if there is a language barrier. Still, a lot of the places can speak for themselves. I suppose I can just look up any details online. I was surprised how much time I actually spent just going around the city center that before I knew it, it was already evening. The days are much shorted this time of the year but it was still time for dinner regardless.
The city center has a large choice of restaurants to pick from. Once again, I only look for what I think is local. I ended up picking this place named Zipfer Bierhaus. This seems to be another one of those traditional taverns which I enjoy a lot. Of course, I don’t get to chat with anyone here but I like the ambience here. I got myself an Old Austrian plate of sausages. I know, you can’t go wrong with those. It came with potatoes and sauerkraut. I also had a mug of beer, yes very typical Austrian fare here. I can see that there really isn’t much variety in the local fare but I think that is how it is in regions like these. You just have to make do with what is available until it became the region cuisine.
