The Abbey of Saint Peter in Salzburg is a pleasant surprise for me. I didn’t know about it at all and I was busy trying to visit all the largest buildings that I can find here in Salzburg. I didn’t know that one of the more important places here in the city is the Abbey of Saint Peter. A monastery was estimated to have been established here in the year 700. As it was common practice, there was also a cemetery established here in the premises, usually beside the church. This makes the cemetery here at the Abbey of Saint Peter the oldest one in the city of Salzburg. I was glad that I stumbled into this place.
I have just finished visiting the church at the Abbey of Saint Peter and it seems that this place has several components. The cemetery is one of these and it is also a tourist destination. Immediately, I can see that there is something special about the cemetery and it is right up against the hill. It seems that something has been carved out from the rock and might be worth visiting. At this point in the evening, it was drizzling and I again I was quick to try to get out from the rain. This part of the cemetery seems to be another place worth visiting.
