Exploring the Mozarts Geburtshaus

I got out of the hotel earlier in the morning to go to Mozarts Geburtshauz which is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth place. It was easy enough to purchase tickets and enter the museum. The building itself is just part of the buildings in the city center. I was actually just walking rather aimlessly when I just ran into the apartment block. It helps that there a bit more space outside compared to the other apartments but there is a huge sign outside the building proclaiming that it is Mozart’s birth place. It is great to see this building preserved.

As you might expect, the apartment is rather small. Although you might think of Mozart as someone like royalty but he comes from more humble origins. Along the way, you can see some quarters which were used by the family. One of these places is the cooking area. It was small and rather dark, I don’t know how people managed to cook in a place like this especially if it is in an apartment. Remember this was the time before electricity was common, so people had to do with lamps. Looking at this, it almost seems so primitive to see how people lived back. I never actually had this impression when I was going around the archbishop’s palace nor the Hohensalzburg Fortress. I think it is because you can clearly see that this was used by common folk and you realize that it wasn’t that easy back then.
