I was just walking my dinner away by randomly walking around the historic center of the city of Salzburg. It is a pleasure to be walking here since it is very pedestrian friendly. There are a lot of shops and restaurants here but I already had my dinner but it probably wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye out for more. So far, I have seen the major sights in the city, the cathedral and the fortress. There are smaller places within the city center but I don’t plan on going just yet. I was just walking around when I saw a sign to a Cafe Mozart.

When visiting Salzburg, it would be next to impossible to not realize that the famed composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has strong ties to the city. This is his birth city and spent much of his life here. There are a number of Mozart related sites here and curiously Cafe Mozart is one of them. As you know, I already just had dinner. However, Cafe Mozart is known for its desserts, specifically something called the Salzburger Nockerl which is something like a sweet souffle. Unfortunately for me, this dessert only comes in one size, which will be too large for me. I ended up getting strudel which was still nice.

The restaurant itself felt ordinary. I know that this place has been in existence since 1824 but I think the decor needs a little fixing up. Maybe it was because it was already almost closing time that I didn’t feel that much energy from such a well known place. Maybe I would have appreciated it more if I had to fight against other tourists just to get in here. Oh, they also have meals here if you need more than just dessert. However, I think you’d be better off eating somewhere else if only for the ambience, or lack of it.
