Going Down the Hohensalzburg Fortress

By the time I was done visiting the Hohensalzburg Fortress, it was already closing time. I knew that it was closing soon when I entered and I managed to quickly go through the entire fortress, or at least the most important parts and see them. I even managed to get to the top of the fortress where there was viewing area as well as staff telling visitors that the fortress was already closed. At that point, I thought that I have seen all that I can see and it was time to go down. The weather has also taken a turn for the worse so I might as well go back.

I considered taking the trail to go down the hill where the fortress is, but I didn’t want to get stuck outside if there was a full blown storm here. I know it doesn’t take that long to go down anyway but I just didn’t want to risk it. I took the funicular service to go down the hill and it wasn’t as crowded as when I went up. When I got down, I can see how the fortress is all lit up at night. I should know because I was just there and it was tough to take photos from the fortress because of all the spotlights that were focused on the the fortress. I think that would be it as far as historical places tonight. I have a few more days to spend here in Salzburg so I think I can take it a little easy.
