Military Exhibit at the Hohensalzburg Fortress
It turns out that the Hohensalzburg Fortress wasn’t just about visiting the rooms of the castle though I thought that was the most important part of the visit. There are still other exhibits here in the fortress. Earlier in the visit, there was an audio visual presentation of the history of the fortress. It was actually quite neat since it was just a simple film showing but rather one with mechanical figures moving up and down depending on what the story is. It was like those shows you might see in a medieval fair.
Cannon on Display at the Hohensalzburg Fortress
I believe I was about to wrap up my visit to the fortress and I was just passing through some exhibits. This one was more about recent history. There were exhibits of weapons that we used in the recent wars. It suddenly makes it very real how a place as beautiful as Salzburg would get engulfed in war. There were various items on display here, such as weapons, ammunition, and even uniforms. There were also stories of what happened and of course how the locals bravely fought off the enemies. I don’t really know how much of this relates to Hohensalzburg Fortress although it was used as barracks for a time.
