The Hohensalzburg Fortress is considered to be one of the largest medieval castles in the Europe. It is built on top of a hill overlooking the city of Salzburg. Like most fortresses, the Hohensalzburg Fortress is surrounded by walls. Within these walls however is a small medieval town obviously of the people who live within the fortress. A lot of the structures here are very well preserved and among them is a church. The church seems to have been built in the year 1501, making it more than five hundred years old.

The church itself is incorporated into the castle structure itself though the traditional church spire was still included to at least make it look like a church from the outside. I actually would have missed it as I was walking right outside it and I just happened to open the door of the church. As you might expect, the church was small considering the amount of people who would have needed the church at that time. It was already rather dark when I visited and I didn’t get to pay too much attention to the interior of the church. I know I was on a time limit and I didn’t want to linger too long on one thing.
