When I purchased tickets to enter the Hohensalzburg Fortress, I was warned that it was almost closing time and if I intend to visit all of the fortress, I would need to visit the interior first. I was already aware of this but I just can’t help but take photos of a scenery taken from above. I was only at the top of the hill where the fortress was built but it already felt so high. The walls of the fortress and the fortress itself are even higher which would lead to even better photos. For now, I was quickly taking photos at where a cafe would be. The cafe didn’t seem to be open, probably for the winter but there was an area beside it where I can take photos from.

Looking down below, I saw a large field named Krauthügel. What was striking about the field is the white patterns which are formed by lining white blocks up. This apparently is an art installation by Paul Wallach named Down to the Ground. Honestly, I don’t know what to make of it. There is a pattern of a four pointed star but you can see that there are also openings in the pattern that will allow visitors to explore the art project. I am no art critic and sometimes art even confuses me. I think it would be nice to be able to visit the art installation up close but I think this is best appreciated when on top of the hill looking down at the field.
