Going to Alpenzoo Funicular Station

Funicular Stopped at the Alpenzoo Station

Funicular Stopped at the Alpenzoo Station

I didn’t really linger that much at Hungerburg. I didn’t think there was much to see apart from the fantastically designed funicular station. The funicular stations from Innsbruck to Hungerburg are all designed by Zaha Hadid but the one at Hungerburg is the largest and most impressive one. I didn’t stick around that long and just continued on my way. The next stop is Alpenzoo. Like the previous stop, the station also has the same Zaha Hadid design.

The location of the funicular station is a bit different where it stops at a steep slope. If the slope is steep what happens to the cars in the funicular? They are actually flexible enough that the individual cars can rotate to keep individual cars level. That way while the train itself will be stopping at an incline, the individual cars will still be level. It was actually pretty neat to see. The station is steep enough that there are stairs to go from the one end of the funicular to another. All the being enclosed by the beautiful sculpture that is the funicular station itself. The station itself seems to be very quiet and it doesn’t seem that a lot of people got off here. Hopefully, I didn’t make a mistake getting off here.
