When I was purchasing the ticket to the Top of Innsbruck, I was informed that I needed to make three transfers to get to the top but it seems that the ticket allows visitors to get off each stop and wander around. I decided to do that on the way down the Nordkette. I arrived at Alpenzoo, which you might figure out from the name is Alpine Zoo. It features all sorts of animals which can be found in this region. I don’t think I have been to any zoo which specializes in that so I think it would be a nice place to visit. One thing which was bothering me was that I didn’t bring my long lens which helps a lot when it comes to animal photography.
The zoo itself is a bit of a walk from the funicular station. In fact, when you get off the station, you won’t think that there is a zoo here. It wasn’t a long walk but don’t expect it to be right there where the station is. You would be surprised to know how big the zoo actually is. I thought it would just be a small place was some exhibits here and there but there is a lot of enclosures which allow the animals quite a lot of movement. While, it might not be the best time to visit the Alpenzoo, I don’t really have much choice right now.
