I finally reached what is marketed as the Top of Innsbruck. This is basically three funicular trackways which go all the way to the top of the Nordkette mountains just north of the city. It has been a while since I was this high up. This is also the first time I have been up on a snow capped mountain like this. The snow cover is actually quite thick here and even though it wasn’t that cold, the ice here was helping to keep the snow cover. Just to the side of the funicular station was a ski lift where visitors can climb back up after making their way down. I don’t fancy myself doing that since I was only here to take photos.
Here at Hafelekar, there enough flat space for visitors to wander around in. Looking at photos online, it seems that summer won’t have any snow cover at all, so I think I was lucky coming here on such a good and clear day. I was expecting it to be windier here on top of the mountain but it wasn’t. Looking around the area, I can see that there are several peaks that are accessible from the funicular station. I don’t exactly have the proper footwear to be walking around in the snow. I can imagine that my shoes and even my pants would be wet from all the walking I would be doing through the thick snow.
