When I got off at Seegrube Funicular Station, I thought that that was already the top of Innsbruck. Actually, everyone needs to get off this station because it won’t go any further. A lot of the people here had their snowboards ready for snowboarding. I don’t know how to do that, nor do I want to risk learning now. As I was walking around Seegrube, I didn’t see anywhere one might be able to rent these equipment. That means, they already own the equipment or you can rent them in the city below. Not that I needed it.
The Seegrube area can be described as a ledge. The flat area is for visitors who do not need to go snowboarding but rather sunbathing. Okay, that is not accurate but there were benches set up here so people can see and enjoy the view below. It also happened to be very sunny that morning so sunbathing might not be that farfetched. Further behind the ledge is a slope where snowboarders can do their thing. As you can imagine, they go up a small hill and snowboard their way down. I had to make sure that I don’t get in their way while they were making their way down or I might cause an accident.
The snowboarders would then pass through a gate which will give them access to the ski lift to the top of the hill. I actually wanted to at least ride the ski lift to the top of the hill and take photos there but I was told that only snowboarders have access to it, which is a shame. However, the guy pointed that I can go further up if I wanted to take photos. Oh, and here I was thinking that this is as high as the funicular goes. I quickly made my way back to funicular station and waited for my ride further up the Nordkette.
