I got excited when I found out that it is possible to go up the Nordkette mountains. I thought that I have seen most of the city of Innsbruck and I think the mountains would be a very good change of scenery. The funicular station is only a short walk from the old city. I was actually surprised to find out that the station is underground. I was thinking that maybe it is underground because there is a river nearby and they needed to tunnel under the river but I was surprised to see it cross the river when we got out of the tunnel.
I left the hotel early hopefully to avoid loads of people going up. I think for the most part, I managed to do that. There weren’t too many people in the car so I was free to take my photos. It looks like it is going to be a very beautiful day but hopefully not too beautiful that there won’t be any snow on top. There is still a lot from the looks of it. This is the second time this trip that I rode on a funicular. It is hard to tell but the Nordkette mountains appear to be taller than the ones in Hallstatt. It is not a surprise that you would need multiple funiculars to go all the way to the top.
