I spent most of the day walking around which is something I don’t get to do that much anymore because of laziness. Trips like these are good that they force you do do things you don’t normally do – in this case, walking. I slept well that night. The next day, I realized that the hotel offered free breakfast. It wasn’t anything special but it was good since I would need to walk around a lot that day. When in Innsbruck, it is impossible not to noticed the nearby mountains. The city is practically built on the foot of the mountain. I figured that I should at least go up the mountain, for sure there would be amazing views from there.
The Nordkette is the mountain range that is to the north of the city. The previous night, I saw that there were some lights along the mountain, which were much too high to be part of the city. I knew that there is a way to go there. The easiest way to get there would be to take the funicular which goes to the top. Actually there are multiple funiculars along the way, depending on how far you want to go. I decided to go all the way to the top. At the Congress Funicular Station, visitors can purchase tickets depending on what their plans are. There is a full ticket which allows access to the top of the mountains. The funicular station is underground and it just so happened that there was a car already waiting. These cars come regularly and I think they are the most convenient way to go to the top.
