Arriving at the Top of the Town Tower of Innsbruck

While walking around the old town of Innsbruck, one would undoubtedly notice the presence of a tower right in the main square. This is the Town Tower of Innsbruck and it served as a symbol of the prosperity of the town. When I first arrived at the old town of Innsbruck, already noticed the tower but it was still mid-afternoon and I wanted to climb the tower when the sun is about to go down. I took the chance to head back to the hotel to properly check in an rest up before heading out again. I know I would be out for the rest of the evening, so rest is a good idea.

Going Up the Town Tower of Innsbruck

By the time I arrived at the old town, it was already early evening. Keep in mind that I visited in December and days tend to be shorter this time of the year. It is for purposes like this that I like to travel this time of the year. I don’t have to wait that long for the sun to set and get my night shots. The entrance to the town tower of Innsbruck was about to close so I quickly purchased a ticket to go up. I actually got a little lost when looking for the staircase and I ended up at some offices inside the building. People didn’t mind me and I eventually found the staircase. The tower has a dual spiral staircase to serve people who visit the tower. The dual spiral design is meant to all people to go up and go down separate staircases, thereby improving safety. I obviously was out of shape since I was already huffing and puffing my way up the tower. Then again, I was never really good with long flights of stairs. I didn’t notice if there was an elevator for people with limited mobility, I doubt they would have been able to fit one in the tower anyway.
