Looking Up at the Town Tower of Innsbruck

I ended up visiting the old town of Innsbruck, which is probably one of the most important places to visit here in the city. Specifically, I was at the town square which hosts a very lively Christmas market. I was only looking around and I believe I would be back here in the evening when things get even better. This square is also where the town hall is. As you might expect, this is one of the most important places here in the old town. Looking up from the square, you would undoubtedly see the one of the major landmarks in the old town square – the town tower.

The town tower is one of the most prominent structures in the old town. As with these types of structures, the tower serves as a watch tower for invaders or anything that causes trouble. It also serves as a symbol of the prosperity of the city. Remember that Innsbruck was once an imperial city thus people would come here to the city to ply their wares. The tower serves as a symbol of prestige of the city. It seems that is possible to climb to the top of the tower but I think I would reserve that for later when it starts to get dark. I would need to attend to my belongings I left at the hotel first.
