The Maria Theresa Street is one of the most significant streets in the city of Innsbruck. It is one of the main access points to the old city of Innsbruck. These days, it is a major pedestrian shopping street. In December, it is also one of the sites for a lively Christmas market. I was making my way to the old town and only started to notice that there are some interesting structures along the way. I really shouldn’t be surprised since this is such an important street but it is still nice to find out that there is more to this street than shopping.
One of the landmarks here along the shopping street is the Servite Church of Saint Joseph in Innsbruck. I actually never heard of the Servite Order but it seems that it is a religious order decided to the service of the poor. So the members of this order have to live a life of poverty and serve the needs of the poor. I immediately noticed that baroque tower of the church, which is quite prominent along this street. Another prominent feature of the church is a large fresco of Jesus Christ. I never did get to go in the church. It appears that it isn’t open all the time and visitors would need to schedule an appointment to get in.
