Going to Eduard Wallnöfer Square in Innsbruck

I arrived in the city of Innsbruck in Tyrol Austria. I was awestruck by the snow capped mountains surrounding the area that I had to remind myself that I need to go to the hotel to check in as soon as possible. It was almost noon and I wanted to have lunch before I start wandering around the city. The hotel I would be staying at isn’t that far from the train station but it is still a good thirty minute walk. I was glad that I traveled light so I don’t have to worry about a heavier bag. While there are buses which pass by the train station of Innsbruck, I decided to walk so I can get an idea of the city.

Downtown Innsbruck is very modern and busy as well. I know that my route didn’t pass through the old town itself but I can see that it is very nice and modern city. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t anything interesting to see here. I passed by what is probably one of the largest squares in the city in Eduard Wallnöfer Square. It is a large square with a modern architecture constructed in the 1930s. There are several government buildings around here. At the center is a monument to the war dead. I can see that there are several ramps here which make it great for the younger folk to hang out in. Indeed, I see skateboarders trying out their tricks. I was actually surprised since it was freezing at the time. I guess anything to get the kids to go out.
