Inside the Innsbruck Railway Station

I finally arrived at the mountain city of Innsbruck. The city is nestled between the snow capped mountains of the Alps and it is certainly in a very scenic location. My jaw almost fell on the floor when I saw the snow capped mountains right as I stepped outside the train. The mountains seems to be very near and I was excited with the possibilities. While it was still very bright outside, I knew that the days were short in the winter so I needed to move fast. The train station seemed to be small but very busy.

It was easy enough to get to the terminal from the platforms. The station is basically one long building. There are several shops inside the station including a McDonald’s. I know I arrived just in time for lunch, but I was also trying to avoid eating familiar food. There were no traditional restaurants here at the train station as it seems to only cater to travelers. The train station is also a major stop of the bus network but I thought that I don’t need to take the bus for this. I will be heading to my accommodations immediately, so I can drop my bags there. At the same time, this will help me get my bearings in this new city.
