Train Platform at Salzburg Railway Station
It took me a bit of time to sort out my tickets at the Salzburg Railway Station. Curiously, the ticket kiosks were further inside the station where the retail area is. I thought you would normally have it at closer to the entrance so as to avoid congestion in the area. Anyway, I managed to get the tickets regardless. I will be going to the city of Innsbruck which is a two hour train ride from Salzburg. I was surprised to find out how expensive the ride is considering that it is only two hours. Maybe that is the standard price for trains rides here in Austria. There seems to be a budget train company because I saw signs of this amazing price for Innsbruck, but I couldn’t find the kiosk to purchase the ticket from. I would later find out that I would have only gotten a slight discount. The better deals are when you book ahead of time. Too bad.

Anyway, there’s still an hour left before my train to Innsbruck departs, assuming there are no delays. The Salzburg Railway Station has several retail shops, mostly catering to passengers. There are bakeries for people to buy bread to eat on the train. There is also a small grocery in case you want to buy other stuff. I went and got myself a few snacks to munch on. I don’t think I will be getting any sleep in the train anyway so I might as well eat. It would be noon by the time I arrive there and it will be just in time for lunch. I held off until the last moment to go up to the waiting platforms since it was cold outside. I was looking at the announcement board to let me know when to go up to the platform.
