I think I have pretty much seen all that I can here in the very pretty village of Hallstatt. I have been to the most important places here and I have a lot of time to spare. I was thinking that maybe I should have done this as a day trip from Salzburg since Hallstatt is that near to Salzburg. However, in the rush to make sure I have a place to stay, I ended up booking a place in Hallstatt the first two nights which basically forced me to come here soon after landing. I still don’t think I made a mistake since this gives me more time to appreciate the village. I know a lot of people come here from Salzburg on day trips but I think it would be too rushed. There seems to be regular buses to and from Hallstatt, so maybe it might not be as bad as I imagine.

While walking around the village of Hallstatt, at one point, I would have heard the sound of rushing water. I never really gave it much thought other than maybe it is just all the melting snow which created the torrent of water that I was hearing. It turns out that there is actually a waterfall here. It isn’t very tall but it is still another point of interest. The waterfall is on the River Mühlbach so locals would call it that name. The waterfall can be accessed by climbing up the hill behind the village. If lost, just follow the sound of the waterfall and you will surely find the steps to get there. The waterfall is actually right beside a tunnel through the hill, there is no place for pedestrians either, which makes it not easy to approach. I ended up just taking photos of the waterfall from the parking lot right in front of the waterfall. As for the waterfall itself, it was okay, I guess. It wasn’t wide but there is enough water to make a large sound. There is a lot of snow melting from up the mountain which probably helps increase the volume of water coming down this way.
