View from Salzwelten Hallstatt
We took a train to get out of Salzwelten Hallstatt. It was a bit of a strange thing to say but there really was a basic train where visitors sit to bring everybody out of the salt mine. It was an interesting end to our tour of the Salzwelten Hallstatt. The tour was a strange one alright. It was almost like a geology/archeology lesson with some fun rides included. There wasn’t too much to see inside the salt mine itself, apart from probably the oldest staircase in Europe. This is much different from a different salt mine tour I went to in Poland, which turned out to be very interesting.

I don’t think this tour would measure up to that one in terms of fun but I think the topics here were interesting. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that the salt mine is considered the oldest in the world and there are several interesting stories involving the salt mine. Finally, we were all out of the salt mine and we quickly headed back to the visitor center to get rid of our miner’s outfits. I don’t think I got dirty from the visit but I think it is more for protection as well since visitors will have to do two slides. While I didn’t touch any walls here, I could imagine that the walls of the salt mine would not exactly be spotless. Some people might not be as careful as I was when avoiding any dirt though, so I think the miner’s uniform for visitors is warranted. Visitors also go out through the shop which sells all things salt. I think it would be a nice souvenir for your loved ones.
