One may be mistaken to think that Hallstatt is just about pretty profile photos. True, this is probably one of the most beautiful places I have been to but Hallstatt wasn’t included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of the fantastic scenery here but it is more because of the salt in the area. In fact, one could argue that salt is the reason Hallstatt came to be in the first place. I was taking photos of the beautiful scenery of Hallstatt that I almost forgot that there is another side to Hallstatt. I walked from one end of the village to another where access to the Salzwelten Hallstatt is.

Actually there isn’t much to see here yet. The entrance is just off the bus terminal. You should be able to see a steady stream of people making there way there. In busy periods, there would be a massive line waiting to go in. This area is just the ticketing area. For the observant, you would have noticed a funicular making its way up the mountain. I was very excited to visit this place. Not only can I get to visit one of the historically important places of Hallstatt but I also expect that there would be incredible views of the area from the top of mountain. Hopefully, the weather holds up and I would get great photos.
