I slept very well at Gasthof Simony Hallstatt. I was tired from a whole day of traveling and the room was very warm. Perfect for this cold winter’s day. I would have a full day to spend here in Hallstatt so I decided to start early. When I was going my research on where to go, I saw a photo of Hallstatt and decided that I need to visit that place. Little did I know that I would be deposited at one of the important view points of Hallstatt. It was nice, but I noticed that it wasn’t what I saw in the photo. In this spot, the village was on the left but what I saw was on the right and it appeared to be closer. It was already starting to get brighter outside and I set out to the other end of Hallstatt.
I had to cross through the village to get there and discovering a few places of interest along the way – more on that later. The spot was actually on the way out of the village. I don’t know how many people actually make it here since this area seems to be very quiet at least for that time of the day. You can see that this area is very residential and there was only the side of the road to take pictures from. You get to see the postcard photo of Hallstatt from here. The sun was still very low in the sky and there wasn’t a lot of light yet. It makes the photo look even colder than it is. No wonder it is said that this was the inspiration for the village of Arendelle in the movie Frozen. From the viewpoint, you can see the signature Evangelical Church of Hallstatt dominating the rest of the village. I think I took too many photos here just to make sure I don’t miss a single shot. It certainly was very pretty and I thought that I was glad that I made the decision to go to Hallstatt.
