On my last full day in Istanbul, I thought of taking one of those Bosphorus Strait cruises which I keep seeing. I decided to go to the Eminonu Ferry Terminal and take a random ferry, which happened to be one going to Kadikoy. Along the way, I got to see some of the important sites in Istanbul such as the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace. The strait has been part of the history of Istanbul. It is the main waterway which divides Istanbul and the country into the European and Asian parts. The waterway is also very busy since it is also used as a convenient way to transport goods as well as people.
There were numerous ferries which traverse the waterway. You can see a few tourist ones as well. This one I took was a regular ferry service from Eminonu and Kadikoy. There are other destinations you can go to from Eminonu, I just happened to take this one. Like a lot of people, I was sitting facing the water. It was then that I noticed that there were a lot of seagull following us. I thought it was strange that they would be doing this unless there was something in it for them. Passengers would be flinging food, usually bread, at the birds and you can see them catch the food. They are not successful a lot of times but I guess the birds already know that there are a lot of ferries which pass through here and there would be a lot of chances later on.
